Scar
Scar is INTJ. He spent years in Mufasa's shadow, accumulated resentment with systematic patience, and built a plan comprehensive enough to execute in a single catastrophic moment. His mistake is the INTJ's most reliable failure: having planned for the overthrow of the existing order, he had no framework for what comes after - he had modelled the acquisition of power and not the exercise of it, which is why the Pride Lands wither under his rule. He was built for the long game of taking what someone else had, not for the longer game of building something himself.
Scar and the INTJ Mind
Scar is INTJ. The type is defined by a hierarchy of cognitive functions - not a checklist of traits but an ordered stack of mental processes that determines how someone perceives the world and how they make decisions. For Scar, that stack leads with Ni (Introverted Intuition) and is supported by Te (Extraverted Thinking). Understanding that order explains not just what Scar does but why - and why they respond the way they do under pressure, in relationships, and at the turning points of their arc.
Scar operates from a private internal model that most people around them never fully see. The dominant function is Ni (Introverted Intuition) - a pattern-synthesis process that works beneath the surface, assembling observations into long-range convictions that arrive complete rather than argued. Scar often knows where something is heading before anyone else does, and acts on that knowledge without needing to explain it, because the Ni process is not easily externalised. Te (Extraverted Thinking) as the auxiliary channels the vision into structure, systems, and decisive action: the model produces a plan, the plan produces results, and the results are evaluated against the model rather than against what anyone else expected. The result is a character who appears certain, independent, and difficult to redirect - because they usually are. The vulnerability is the inferior Se (Extraverted Sensing): Scar can be blindsided by present-tense physical realities that the model did not account for, or become dangerously detached from the immediate world while living entirely inside the internal architecture.
What makes Scar a compelling example of INTJ is not that they demonstrate every item on the type description, but that the function stack holds under pressure. In the moments that define their story in The Lion King - the decisions under stress, the failures of judgment, the rare moments of genuine growth - the pattern is consistent. The dominant function is what Scar reaches for first. The inferior function is what catches them off guard.

Scar: What the INTJ Profile Explains
Scar's INTJ profile is The Lion King's most precisely rendered villain: the Ni synthesis - Mufasa is in my way, the throne is the correct position for the intelligence that should be running the Pride Lands, the specific action required to remove the obstacle is available - implemented through Te with a precision that required years of preparation and the exact timing of the wildebeest stampede. He did not improvise the murder. He arranged the conditions, deployed Simba as the instrument, and managed Scar's alibi with the consistency of someone who had been running the framework long enough to have contingencies for every available outcome except Simba's return.
His management of the hyenas is the Te dominant's most characteristic relationship to institutional power: the instrument assessed, acquired, deployed, and abandoned when the Ni synthesis has determined the instrument is insufficient for the current configuration. He uses the hyenas when the Ni requires them and blames them when the Te needs a scapegoat. That use-and-discard relationship to institutional allies is the INTJ's most specific failure mode: the Te that treats every relationship as an instrument eventually produces the instrument's revolt.
"Be Prepared" is the Ni synthesis delivered as theatrical performance: the vision is complete, the framework is specified, the Te is ready to implement, and the inferior Fe provides just enough showmanship to make the communication adequate to the situation. He does not enjoy the performance. He finds it necessary. That distinction - the INTJ performing for the Fe's instrumental requirements while the Ni vision runs in the background - is the type's most complete relationship to its own charisma.
Why Scar Is INTJ, Not INFJ or ENTJ
Scar is sometimes typed ENTJ - the institutional management, the visible authority, the command of the hyenas. But ENTJ builds institutions outward and inhabits them naturally. Scar's relationship to institutional power is always instrumental: he acquires it, uses it, and abandons the institutional structure when it is no longer required by the synthesis. An ENTJ would have built the Pride Lands into a functional institution after acquiring it. Scar ran it into the ground because the Te was serving the Ni synthesis (acquire the throne) and not the institution itself.
The ENTP argument comes from his wit, the verbal precision, the apparent intellectual pleasure in the confrontation with Simba. But ENTP generates possibilities in real time and finds the debate energising. Scar's wit is the Te deploying the inferior Fe's instrument of choice (verbal domination) in service of the Ni synthesis's specific objective (remove the threat from the succession). He is not enjoying the argument. He is using the argument as the Te's most efficient available instrument for the specific communication required.
The clincher is "I'm surrounded by idiots." That is the INTJ's most characteristic assessment of its institutional environment: the Te has evaluated the available instruments and found them insufficient for the synthesis's requirements, and the Ni has synthesised that the insufficiency is structural rather than correctable. He is not wrong about the hyenas. The INTJ is rarely wrong about the specific assessment. The error is the synthesis's assumption that the instruments' inadequacy was manageable. It was not, and the Ni did not model the full consequences of building the entire framework on instruments it had already assessed as insufficient.
