He is not wrong about the theory. He is wrong about whether the theory can be applied in the domain he chose to apply it in.
The inferior Se is the fatal blind spot. He models the economics correctly and fails to model the people. Avon Barksdale is not a variable in a market system; he is a person whose loyalty to the corners is more fundamental than any calculation about margins. Clay Davis is not an institutional actor; he is a specifically corrupt person who will take the money and deliver nothing. Stringer operates as if people will behave according to their rational incentives. The inferior Se cannot fully model what people will actually do when their deeper motivations - pride, loyalty, survival instinct - override the incentive structure.
"You got to be a man first before you can be a businessman." Avon says it to him at the end. He has modelled everything except this. The INTJ whose framework is right about the system and wrong about the humans inside it is the most precisely rendered portrait of the type's most characteristic failure.
Why Stringer Bell Is INTJ, Not INFJ or ENTJ
Stringer is sometimes typed ENTJ - the leadership, the institutional ambition, the ability to command the operation. But ENTJ builds outward from Te: it organises people and institutions in service of a vision that the Ni provides. Stringer is Ni dominant: the vision is primary, the organisation is in service of it, and when the vision requires dismantling the institution (eliminating D'Angelo, attempting to go legit), the institution is expendable. ENTJ would have managed D'Angelo as a variable. Stringer eliminated him because the framework had already decided what the framework required.
The INTJ versus INTP distinction is worth drawing: some see Stringer's economic analysis as Ti framework-building. But Stringer does not investigate the economics out of curiosity; he investigates them because the Ni synthesis has determined that economic mastery is the path to the specific outcome the vision requires. The analysis is instrumental, not exploratory. That is Ni-Te, not Ti-Ne.
The clincher is his death. He is killed by Avon and Omar simultaneously, which is The Wire's most precise irony: he has been betrayed by the person his framework could not fully model (Avon's loyalty to the streets over the business) and executed by the person his framework designated as an acceptable operational hazard (Omar). The INTJ framework was correct about everything except the two most important variables. That is not a flaw in the analysis. It is the fatal limitation of Ni when the inferior Se cannot supply the human data the analysis required.
