Justin Trudeau is ENFP. His government legalised cannabis and medical assistance in dying and introduced the Canada Child Benefit. It also survived the SNC-Lavalin affair, in which his office was found to have improperly pressured the attorney general, and the 2019 revelation of photographs of him in blackface. The Liberals were reduced to minorities in 2019 and 2021, and after his deputy Chrystia Freeland resigned in December 2024 he announced in January 2025 that he would step down. Mark Carney succeeded him on 9 March 2025.

Trudeau is dominant Ne, and his political style is the function's strengths and weaknesses in almost equal measure. He is genuinely good at the reframe - taking a question the country has been arguing about in one register and answering it in another - and the cabinet line is the clearest example: asked to justify gender parity, he declined the argument entirely and stated a fact about the year. Ne finds the angle nobody has set up a defence against.
The auxiliary Fi is what he ran on. The 2015 campaign was built on a set of personal convictions about openness, diversity and generational change rather than on a policy programme, and it worked because the convictions were evidently his. It is also why the later controversies damaged him so specifically: the objection was not that a policy failed but that the person had not matched the position.
Why did the second half of Trudeau's premiership go badly?
Because tertiary Te and inferior Si are the parts of the stack that govern, and governing is what the job becomes after the first two years. Ne opens possibilities and Fi supplies conviction; neither delivers the accumulated grind of budgets, housing supply, procurement and the slow management of an electorate's patience. The pattern across his last five years is announcements outrunning delivery, and a leader whose greatest asset - the ability to make people feel something new was starting - is the least useful thing to have in year eight.
