Johnny Silverhand
Johnny Silverhand is ENTP. CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 puts a dead rockstar terrorist in your head as a corrupted personality construct, played by Keanu Reeves, and spends fifty hours letting you work out whether anything he says is true. He put a nuke in Arasaka Tower in 2023. He talks continuously, argues with everything, and his defining quality is that he can dismantle any position anyone holds including his own, and has never once built a thing that outlasted the argument.
Who Is Johnny Silverhand?
Johnny Silverhand is the deuteragonist of Cyberpunk 2077, the 2020 role-playing game by CD Projekt Red adapted from Mike Pondsmith's tabletop setting, performed by Keanu Reeves. He was the frontman of the band Samurai and a rockerboy in the setting's terms - a musician whose act is explicitly political agitation against the corporations that own everything.
He is dead before the game begins. What the player carries is an engram: a digital construct of his personality made by the corporation he spent his life fighting, lodged in the protagonist's head by a stolen biochip and slowly overwriting them. The relationship is the game's actual subject - two people in one skull, one of whom is a recording of a man who may or may not have been anything like the legend attached to him.
What did Johnny Silverhand actually do?
He detonated a nuclear device in Arasaka Tower in Night City in 2023, an act the setting has been arguing about ever since, and died in the operation. The game is careful never to settle whether he was a revolutionary or a self-mythologising narcissist who got a great many people killed, and it repeatedly gives the player evidence for both. His own memories, which the protagonist can access, turn out to be unreliable in ways he has not admitted to himself, and several of the people who knew him remember a considerably less heroic man than the one in the recordings.

He does not describe Night City, he keeps proposing what Night City actually is, and about a third of the time the proposal is the sharpest thing anyone in the game says.
The auxiliary Ti is the machinery underneath the noise. His anti-corporate position is a genuine argument, worked out, internally consistent, and he will follow it to conclusions that cost him everything including his own life. He is not raging; he has reasoned his way to a place where a nuclear device is the correct instrument, and he can explain why.
Why is Johnny Silverhand so hard to like?
Because tertiary Fe is unmanaged and inferior Si means he has no accurate access to his own record. He is capable of real loyalty and genuine cruelty within the same conversation, and he consistently remembers his own past as more principled than the people who were there recall it. The game's most interesting move is to let the player discover that gap. What he can offer, and eventually does, is the one thing an Ne-Ti mind is actually good for: a completely honest reassessment when the evidence finally becomes undeniable.

He is a performer who cannot stop performing, and the game's central joke is that death did not shut him up. He processes everything out loud, at a person who cannot leave the room, for fifty hours.
Every scene is an opportunity to reframe what is happening. He is not interested in the mission in front of him but in what the mission means, who benefits, and what the whole arrangement really is underneath.
His politics are an argument he has actually worked out, followed to a conclusion most people would refuse, and defended without appeal to sentiment. He is coldest precisely when he is most committed.
He built nothing that survived him - no organisation, no movement, no successor. A band, a legend and a hole in a building, which is what happens when enormous conviction is never converted into structure.
Why Johnny Silverhand Is ENTP, Not ENFP or INTJ
ESTP is the most common alternative, given the violence, the swagger and the appetite for immediate action. But his weapon is the argument rather than the situation. He is at his most dangerous talking, and his defining act was ideological - a statement made with a bomb - rather than a tactical response to something in front of him.
ENFP is occasionally suggested because of the passion and the loyalty to a cause. The difference is the auxiliary.
