Frasier Crane is ENTP. Kelsey Grammer first played him on Cheers in 1984 as a psychiatrist brought in for a few episodes, kept him for nine years, and then took him to Seattle for eleven more, winning four Emmys for the role. He hosts a call-in radio show dispensing advice he cannot apply to himself, lives with his ex-cop father and his father's physiotherapist, and conducts a running argument with his brother Niles that neither of them can ever win.
Who Is Frasier Crane?
Dr Frasier Winslow Crane is played by Kelsey Grammer, and is one of very few characters to have carried two successful series. He appeared on Cheers in 1984 as a psychiatrist introduced to the bar as Diane's new love interest, intended for a handful of episodes; the producers kept him for the rest of the show's run. In 1993 the spin-off moved him to Seattle, where he hosts a psychotherapeutic call-in programme on the radio station KACL.
The Seattle set-up is the good joke: a man who advises strangers on their emotional lives for a living, sharing an apartment with his father Martin, a retired police officer with a battered recliner Frasier finds aesthetically intolerable, and Daphne Moon, the physiotherapist he hired for him. His brother Niles is his equal in pretension and his superior in most arguments, and is silently in love with Daphne for years.
What happened to Frasier Crane?
He married Lilith Sternin during Cheers and they had a son, Frederick, before divorcing ahead of the move to Seattle. Over eleven seasons he pursues a very large number of relationships, none of which survive contact with his own personality. Grammer won four Emmys for the part, in 1994, 1995, 1998 and 2004, plus two Golden Globes. The character returned in a 2023 revival on Paramount+, having given up a television show in Chicago and taken a teaching post at Harvard.

He can read a room and perform enormous warmth on the radio, and then completely misjudge his father's feelings at the dinner table. And because Si sits last, the accumulated evidence of eleven seasons of identical romantic failures never assembles into a lesson - each new disaster arrives as though it were unprecedented. The show is built on that loop, and the reason it stays affectionate rather than cruel is that Frasier's self-deception is transparently a defence rather than a vanity.

His readings of other people are precise and usually right, and he defends them as arguments rather than as impressions. The sparring with Niles is genuinely rigorous - two people applying real analytical equipment to increasingly trivial questions.
Nothing is settled. Jobs, apartments, relationships and cities all change, plans are abandoned mid-execution when a better idea arrives, and eleven seasons produce no accumulated wisdom whatsoever about his own conduct.
Why Frasier Crane Is ENTP, Not ENFP or INTJ
ENTJ is the most common alternative, given the authority, the ambition and the enormous self-regard. But he builds nothing and commands nobody. His career is a sequence of positions he talks his way into, his plans collapse on contact with reality, and his relationship with his own producer is one of constant negotiation from a position of no power.
