He implements the framework anyway because the Te dominant cannot not implement it.
His identity crisis - when he discovers he is a toy - is the ESTJ's most devastating portrait: the Si library that has been providing the accumulated evidence for the Te's implementation is revealed to contain incorrect entries. Every precedent he has been operating from was wrong. The Te has been implementing a framework built on a false Si record. The discovery does not produce philosophical reflection (INFJ) or analytical revision (INTP). It produces collapse - the inferior Fi finally surfacing because the dominant stack's operational basis has been removed.
His recovery - the acceptance that being a toy is what he actually is, and that what he actually is has more value than what the false framework said he was - is the ESTJ's most complete integration: the Si library updated, the Te re-pointed, the inferior Fi finally providing the standard the Te needed. He is still Buzz Lightyear. The framework is still intact. The contents are correct now.
Why Buzz Lightyear Is ESTJ, Not ENTJ or ISTJ
Buzz is sometimes typed ISTJ - the apparent rule-following, the institutional loyalty, the accumulated procedure. But ISTJ's Te is auxiliary: it implements what the Si has accumulated. Buzz's Te is dominant: he builds and enforces the Star Command framework with initiating precision, before anyone in the bedroom has agreed that the framework applies or that he has authority to enforce it. That institutional initiation - the ESTJ applying the framework to the external world rather than maintaining it internally - is Te dominant.
The INTJ argument comes from the apparent strategic intelligence, the comprehensive model of his mission. But INTJ builds a Ni vision and implements it with Te. Buzz operates from an Si library of Star Command protocols and implements them through Te. There is no Ni vision of where the mission should go; there is a Si record of what the mission requires, implemented in every available present-tense situation. The framework is Si-grounded, not Ni-visionary.
The clincher is his reaction to Woody's demonstration that he cannot fly. "You are a sad, strange little man." The Te's assessment of the situation, delivered with total institutional authority, is that Woody's challenge to the framework's validity is a failure on Woody's part rather than evidence against the framework.
