A complete functional mirror. Both are private and intense. One builds toward a future vision. The other inhabits an authentic present moment.
INTJs and ISFPs are complete functional mirrors. All four cognitive functions are shared in precisely reversed order. The INTJ's dominant Ni is the ISFP's tertiary. The ISFP's dominant Fi is the INTJ's tertiary. The INTJ's inferior Se is the ISFP's auxiliary, and the ISFP's inferior Te is the INTJ's auxiliary. Both types are deeply private, intensely internal, and tend to be described by others as mysterious, self-contained, and more complex than they initially appear. The interior richness is real in both cases. What it is made of, and what it is oriented toward, could not be more different.
INTJs lead with Introverted Intuition, which synthesizes a forward-looking private vision of what is true and where things must go. Their Te auxiliary then builds the structural framework to realize that vision. INTJs are architects of the future. ISFPs lead with Introverted Feeling, which maintains a rich private hierarchy of personal values and evaluates everything against authenticity and moral rightness. Their Se auxiliary roots those values in the immediate physical present. ISFPs are authentic inhabitants of the now. One type is always oriented toward the destination. The other is always fully arrived.

|---|---|---|
| Ni position | Dominant: future vision is the primary reality | Tertiary: background pattern impressions |
| Fi position | Tertiary: private values, rarely surfacing | Dominant: personal values are the primary reality |
| Se position | Inferior: stress overindulgence | Auxiliary: connects values to physical present |
| Te position | Auxiliary: executes the vision | Inferior: stress bluntness and rigidity |
| Time | Future: synthesizing where things must go | Present: fully inhabiting what is here and authentic |
| Structure | J type: organized toward closure | P type: open, spontaneous, responds to what arrives |
