P
What it means
Keeping options open is a genuine cognitive strategy, not a failure to decide. The next piece of information might change the picture. The situation might shift. Something better might appear. You stay responsive to all of this in a way that produces real advantages in environments that change faster than any plan could account for.
You tend to work well under pressure, often better than expected. The deadline is real information, it tells you what the actual shape of the task needs to be, rather than the idealised version. Some of your best output appears at precisely the moment it needs to. The challenge is that this pattern, taken too far, leaves things perpetually unfinished.

FlexibleSpontaneousAdaptableExploratoryOpen-ended
Strengths
- Adapts to changing circumstances without the friction that others experience
- Creative in ambiguous situations, treats constraints as interesting problems
- Brings fresh energy to things that have become stale for others
- Works well under actual pressure, not panicked, focused
In daily life
You pack the night before. What to eat gets decided at the restaurant. You've started things you haven't finished, and you're at peace with more of them than other people would be. You've said 'I'll figure it out' and been right more often than the odds suggested.
Growth edge
Some things only reveal themselves to people who commit. Relationships, projects, ideas, the deeper layer often isn't visible until you've stayed past the point where you wanted to stay flexible. Deliberately choosing to close, deciding something and holding that decision, is a skill that most Ps have to build consciously, and it pays disproportionately when they do.
