He wanders the cemetery alone at night because the cemetery is the only available exterior environment that matches the interior with adequate completeness. He understands Christmas at the conceptual level before he has understood it at the practical level. The feeling, the meaning, the quality of what the holiday contains - these are clear to him from the first moment. What each element actually requires to produce that quality in the people receiving it is not accessible to him through the Ne alone. The Ne produces the most available form for what the interior has assessed. The form is not always the right form for the specific domain.
Every decision is driven by what the interior has designated as the primary missing element. The Ne keeps generating alternatives because the Fi has assessed that the current configuration is insufficient, and the generation continues until the Fi endorses an alternative with the completeness it provides for the specific engagements it has fully designated. Sally produces that endorsement. Halloween, with Sally, produces the quality the interior had been looking for in Christmas.
He does not plan Christmas so much as attempt it. The attempt is enthusiastic, total, and catastrophically wrong in its execution because the Perceiving type follows the direction the interior designates without building the structural framework the direction requires. He commits to Christmas with complete investment and zero adequate preparation. The inferior Te builds only the minimum available structure. The minimum available structure is not sufficient for what taking over Christmas actually requires.
Why Jack Skellington Is INFP, Not ISFP or INFJ
Jack is sometimes typed INFJ - the apparent visionary quality, the comprehensive understanding of what he wants. But INFJ synthesises patterns toward a conclusion. Jack generates possibilities and the Fi endorses the ones that match the interior's assessment of what produces the right feeling. He does not have a model of what Christmas should be. He has a feeling about what Christmas contains and the Ne generates the most available form for that feeling. The generation produces something genuinely novel and genuinely wrong.
ENFP is argued because of the enthusiasm and the apparent external orientation. But Jack processes inward. His relationship with the people of Halloween Town is warm but not primary - he is moved by the interior's assessment of what he is missing, not by the reading of what the town needs from him. The interior is the primary domain.
