His conflict with the Church is the Ti dominant's most specific confrontation: the two most complete available frameworks for what the solar system contains, evaluated against the specific evidence, with the Ti's framework producing the internally consistent conclusion and the institutional framework producing the institutionally required conclusion. He was right. The Church had the power. The Ti held the framework. The inferior Fe managed the institutional requirement as efficiently as the inferior function could.
Why Galileo Galilei Is INTJ, Not INFJ or ENTJ
Galileo is sometimes typed INTJ - the comprehensive model, the long-range patience, the apparent certainty. But INTJ builds Ni syntheses and implements them with Te. Galileo builds Ti frameworks and tests them against internal consistency. He did not synthesise that heliocentrism was correct before the telescope's evidence was available. He tested every available hypothesis against the available evidence until the Ti framework produced the most internally consistent available conclusion. That test-until-consistent sequence is Ti, not Ni synthesis.
The ENTP argument comes from the apparent range and the intellectual pleasure in the confrontation. But ENTP generates possibilities and finds the exploration energising. Galileo built the most rigorous available framework for the specific question and found the most internally consistent available conclusion. The conflict with the Church was not interesting to him as an intellectual exercise. The truth of the solar system's structure was the requirement. The conflict was the cost.
The clincher is the telescope itself. He did not invent it. He heard about it from the Netherlands, built his own, and immediately turned it toward the sky - because the Ti had identified the telescope as the most available instrument for testing the specific hypothesis the framework required testing. That instrument-identification - the Ti finding the most available tool for its most pressing analytical requirement - is the INTP at its most characteristic.
