Why Dory Is ENFP, Not ENTP or INFP
Dory is sometimes typed ESFP - the physical expressiveness, the apparent present-tense joy, the warmth. But ESFP inhabits the present completely, without the Ne's simultaneous generation of alternatives. Dory is always already in the next available possibility the Ne has generated before the current one has fully resolved. That perpetual forward generation - the Ne producing the next angle before the current configuration has been fully inhabited - is Ne dominant, not Se dominant.
The ENFJ argument comes from her warmth toward Marlin and Nemo and her apparent care for the specific people she encounters. But ENFJ's Fe reads the group and synthesises what the group requires. Dory responds to each specific person with the Fi's complete immediate investment before any accumulated evidence exists to support the investment. She loves immediately.
