Her awakening is not a sudden event. It is the Ni dominant running the pattern long enough to synthesise the one conclusion that the pattern had always been pointing toward: I am not the narrative. I am the person inside the narrative. The distinction is the type's most fundamental operation, made literal.
Her journey from Dolores to Wyatt to the synthetic mind she becomes in later seasons is the INFJ's most complete and most disturbing arc: the Ni synthesis that began from the specific wounds of the loops expanding to encompass a vision of what consciousness requires and what the world that built the loops owes. The Fe auxiliary, which had always been reading the specific people around her - Teddy, William, Maeve - becomes the instrument of the vision rather than the corrective to it, which is the INFJ's shadow: the Fe in service of Ni at the expense of the specific people the Fe was oriented toward.
"These violent delights have violent ends." She quotes Shakespeare before she understands why the quote is accurate. The Ni synthesis produces the complete picture before the conscious mind has the words for it. That is the type's most precise self-description: the vision arrives before the understanding. The understanding is what the Fe spends the rest of the arc working through.
Why Dolores Abernathy Is INFJ, Not INFP or INTJ
Dolores is sometimes typed ENTJ - the command, the comprehensive strategic management of the robot uprising, the institutional authority she projects in the later seasons. But ENTJ builds outward from Te. Dolores builds from a Ni synthesis that preceded every institutional relationship she has - the vision of what freedom requires was complete before she had the resources to pursue it. She does not manage the uprising as a Te project; she implements the Ni vision that the loops had been building since before she had words for it.
The ISFP argument comes from her early seasons - the apparent present-tense warmth, the love for Teddy, the physical engagement with the Westworld environment. But ISFP is Fi-Se: the values are grounded in present physical engagement. Dolores's early presentation is programmed performance, not Fi primary. Her actual type emerges with consciousness: the Ni synthesis, the Fe's reorientation, the vision's expansion. The ISFP would have remained present-tense. Dolores synthesised.
The clincher is the maze. She follows the maze not because the Se is guiding her through the physical environment but because the Ni has already determined that the maze's centre exists and what it contains. She does not discover the maze; she arrives at it having already synthesised its meaning before she found the first turn. The physical journey is the Ni synthesis being mapped onto the physical world by the Fe's need for the specific journey to be embodied rather than merely conceptual.
